Research on this Buffalo Bag indicates that messenger bags exactly like this were produced at the Rock Island Arsenal, a US Military Garrison, located in the Mississippi River Channel near Davenport, Iowa. Damage: one Strap Broken. The leather is soft and supple in spite of being 100 to 125 years old. This type of bag was used from the 1880s until World War I, but was especially important during the Spanish American War.
