Small Shell Cameo Pin in Hand Worked Gold Frame - Male Profile

This beautiful small late Victorian Cameo pin is ivory-toned shell with a delicately twisted hand wrought gold frame and backing. The profile looks masculine and is facing right in an opaque off white, which is almost translucent, taking on the color of clothing behind it. This beautiful pin is delicate in nature and was probably worn as a collar pin at the turn of the century or late Victorian era. I am not an expert on cameos, but the cameo looks a little like an agate in color and more like a stone's temperature. The subject almost looks like the biblical Chosen One, Pontius Pilate. Using correctly this pin could be the spotlight of a scarf or lapel or it could be a small side accessory.
