Art Nouveau Dragon's Breath Opal Set In Sterling Silver Brooch - RARE Turn of the Century 1900 Bohemian Glass Opal in Silver Surround

This is a rare and especially dazzling little collar brooch, is ready to take your next outfit or Bohemian Glass collection up a notch. At 1.5" in length and just a little over half an inch tall, it packs a real punch inner color. This pin in it's sterling silver base holds a sparkling cabochon of Bohemian Dragon's Breath Opal. Dragon's Breath opal is not a class of genuine opal, but rather man made glass. The manufacturing process involves adding molten metal to Czech glass in order to create its reflective shine. There are other kinds of these cabochons that even reflect deep purples and fiery reds. They are usually referred to as "Mexican Opals". This one has a very subtle charm, with its citrus-like, orange base which reflects flashes of lavender and white. The overall condition of the brooch is very good. The closure pin is functional (same type of pin used in the late part of the 1800s), the cabochon, which is rather large, and sterling silver base have minimal signs of wear, aside from some traces of residue around the hinges (see photos) that can be easily cleaned up. Ultimately, this would make a very unique gift for yourself or someone in your life.
