This stunning, deeply carved cameo is both a brooch and a pendant with a movable loop. The 800 English silver denotes not only the high purity of the silver but also that it was made somewhere on the European continent, as the "800" marking on the back was predominantly used in Germany, Italy, and the United States. Cameos being an Italian art, it is easy to interpret that this piece originated somewhere in Italy in the early 1900's on a Carnelian Shell. The pendant loop moves to swing up if on a chain or fold down if being worn as a brooch.
