Cameo Pin or Necklace Pendant of Natural Carved Shell in 10K Gold Frame

History: 1930s to 1950s Shell Cameo. During the time period this cameo was made,  Americans were traveling to Europe and often visiting Italy, returning with Cameos as mementos of the trip. This one has the classic Romanesque female profile. The carving is quite nice. 

Encircled in a ring of swirled 10K gold, this shell cameo is a soft translucent brown tone with a creamy ivory face.  If you look carefully at the photos, the carving inclusions around the face are clearly visible. The clasp indicates the piece was most likely produced in the 1930s. The delicately designed cameo is both a carrier on the back, which would fit a fine chain or a brooch pin. This beautiful, delicate brooch would make a gift.
