Dark Cherry Red Bakelite Belt Buckle - Ladies Art Deco Style Bakelite Buckle

If you're looking to add a bit of vintage Art Deco flair, to your outfits, this lovely Bakelite buckle may be for you. Bakelite, an early form of plastic, was developed by Leo Bakeland in the early 1900s, long before the rise of modern plastics. Bakelite is known for being naturally beautiful, and being able to stand the test of time despite its fragile composition. Our belt clips are a perfect example of this sustainability. Their style is consistent with styles found in the 1920s and '30s - making them about one hundred years old. Each clip is approximately 1.75" long, 1.65" wide, and has its original metal ribbon or kid leather bridge intact. It should be noted that the bridges do show signs of wear, including scuffing and some rust (see photos). With a little clean up, these clips will be ready to add to your ribbon or soft leather belt.
